Ingredients
500g bottle gourd or lauki,
1 cup soaked chana dal,
1 tomato, roughly chopped,
1 tsp mustard seeds,
1 tsp cumin seeds,
1/4 tsp asafoetida,
2 round boria chillies,
1/4 tsp turmeric powder,
1/2 tsp red chilli powder,
Salt to taste,
Coriander leaves,
Water curry leaves
Method
In a pressure cooker heat some oil, add 1 tsp mustard seeds, 1 tsp cumin seeds, 1/4 tsp asafoetida, 2 round boria chillies, curry leaves, 500 gms chopped bottle gourd or lauki and mix it nicely. Add 1 cup soaked chana dal, 1 roughly chopped tomato, mix it well. Add 1/4 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp coriander and cumin seed powder, 1/2 tsp red chilli powder, salt as required, some coriander leaves and give it a mix. Add 1½ cup water, cover it with the lid and cook for 1 whistle on high flame and 3 whistles on low flame. Add some coriander leaves and serve it with hot rotis.
