Ingredients
For the Batter:-
1.5 cup split black gram, skinless, washed and soaked overnight and drained before using
4 tbsp. Cornstarch
1 tsp. Orange food colouring
⅛ tsp. Baking soda
Ghee for frying
For the Sugar Syrup:-
1 cup grain sugar
1 cup water
A pinch of saffron
1 tsp. Lemon juice
For Garnish:-
Pistachios
Silver warq
Method
– Grind the split black gram with water to form a smooth paste.
– Whisk this paste for 3 minutes by adding sieved baking soda, corn flour and orange food colouring.
– Heat a pan and add sugar, water, saffron and lemon juice to it.
– Bring to a boil on medium flame and keep aside.
– Fill the batter in a piping bag and cut open narrow end with a pair of scissors.
– Heat ghee in a shallow pan and drop the batter in and fry on a medium flame for a minute and a half on both sides.
– Once fried, take the Imartis out of the ghee and drain the excess ghee.
– Transfer into the sugar syrup and let soak.
– Garnish with silver warq and pistachios.
Sweet and delicious Imarti is ready to eat!
