Ingredients
Base 160 gms or 1 cup Maida,
45 gms or 1/2 cup dessicated coconut,
100 gms or 1/2 cup butter,
80gms or 1/2 cup minus,
1 tbsp sugar Filling,
60gms or 1/4th cup butter,
600 gms or 1 can condensed milk,
3 tbsp golden syrup or honey
Topping
170gms or 1 1/2 cups chopped Dark chocolate,
1 tbsp vegetable oilÂ
Method
– For the base, in a bowl mix maida, dessicated coconut, melted butter and brown sugar. Mix it well.
– In a baking pan, place parchment paper and evenly spread the base mixture.
– Prick it lightly on the top.
– At 108 degree, bake it for 15 to 20 minutes.
– For the filling, in a sauce pan heat condensed milk, butter and golden syrup.
– Cook this mixture till it thickens. It will roughly take 8 to 10 minutes.
– Pour this caramel mixture over the base and bake it at 180 degree for 10 to 12 minutes.
– Allow it to cool at room temperature and keep it in refrigerator for 45 minutes.
– In a double boiler, melt the dark chocolate by adding vegetable oil to give that extra shine to the chocolate.
– Pour the melted dark chocolate over the cooled caramel layer.
– Refrigerate it for 10 to 15 minutes.
– Once it is out of the fridge, cut it in to pieces.
– Delicious Caramel Slice is ready!
