Ingredients

Misal Masala
1 tbsp oil
1 medium sized chopped onions
1/2 cup grated dry coconut (kopra)
2 tsp coriander (dhania) seeds
1 tbsp garam masala
1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
2 tbsp red chilli powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 small tomato
1 tbsp corriander leaves

For The Misal
4 tbsp oil
1 tsp cumin
1 bay leaf
2 tbsp chilli powder
1/2 cup matki (moth beans) sprouted
1/2 cup moong (whole green gram) sprouts
Water as required
salt to taste

For Serving
1 cup kanda poha ( 1 tsp mustard seeds + curry leaves + 1 medium chopped onion + 2 green chillies + 1 tsp turmeric powder + 3/4 cup flattened rice soaked + salt + sugar + lemon juice) 1/2 cup mixed farsaan 1/4 cup chopped onions 4 tbsp finely chopped coriander 1 /4 cup tomatoes chopped Pav as required lemon wedges

Method

In a pan heat oil and fry the coconut. In a separate pan fry the onions. After the coconut turns golden brown add cumin seeds, coriander seeds and the fried onions. Mix everything well and let it cool down to room temperature. Once cooled,
add it to the mixer/grinder with tomatoes, garam masala, ginger, garlic, green chilli, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, water and coriander leaves. Grind all this to a fine paste. The Kaanda Pohaa:- In a pan heat oil and add mustard seeds and curry leaves.
Once the mustard seeds crackle, add onions, green chillies, turmeric powder, flattened rice, salt, sugar and lemon juice.
Mix it well and keep aside, The Misal:- In a pan heat a generous amount of oil and add bay leaf, Kashmiri red chilli powder and the Misal Masala followed by water, salt, green gram, moth bean and let it cook on 10-12 minutes on medium flame.
Add jaggery if required. Spicy Misal is ready to serve with pav, chopped onions, chopped tomatoes, a wedge of lime and some farsaan on top.
