Learn how to make Kand Ka Chilla Recipe at home with our Chef Varun Dioscorea alata – also called purple yam, ube, or greater yam, among many other names – is a species of yam. The tubers are usually a vivid violet-purple to bright lavender in color, but some range in color from cream to plain white. Chilas can also be made of grated purple yam, as in this recipe. Although it uses only basic ingredients, the Kand Chila tastes awesome when had right off the tava with tongue-tickling green chutney.
