- Makhana – Fox nut or lotus seed.
- Mysore pak = ghee and besan based fudge
- Murgh Makhani = butter chicken
- Murgh/Murghi = chicken
- Moong Dal = small yellow lentils
- Mithai = sweet (noun)
- Mirchi = spicy
- Mirch = chili
- Methi = fenugreek (there are different forms of fenugreek and they are not interchangeable: seeds and powder, fenugreek leaves)
- Meetha/Meethe = sweet (adjective) or dessert (eg. meethe chawal translates to sweet rice)
- Matar = green peas
- Masoor Dal = red lentils
- Masala = a mixture of spices used in Indian cooking
